Movie Night

Tonight we watched the Red Tent, a movie made after Anita Diamant's best selling novel. It is the story of Dinah the only daughter of Jacob. It talks about her life and also touches on what it was like within the warmth of the Red Tent. Stories past down from Mother to Daughter about our lives, falling in love, our pain, and forgiveness. It talks about how the stories of our mothers were lost and in time forgotten.

We witness her love for her family, the adoration of her father, and the betrayal of her brothers. It shows of the magic within the Red Tent and the strength it gives women.

It is so important that we make space in our lives for ourselves. We serve others so relentlessly that it is easy to forget ourselves. At the end of the movie she is looking down onto her fathers tribe and she see's the red tent where the story of her mothers lived. You could see the relief and comfort she felt seeing it stand in the desert. I can relate to that, as I often find myself needing a place for just me to relax, meditate, and heal.

I highly recommend reading The Red Tent, but if you can't spare that time (which you really should learn to give back to yourself) then watch the movie and see her story for yourself.

Sometimes, all you need to make your world right is a good movie/book and a sister to share it with.
